The new ad format promises to be more engaging and interactive

Facebook has unveiled a new vision for mobile ad format, which will be more visually engaging and interactive as well. Chris Cox, Facebook’s product head, shared the idea at the annual Cannes advertising festival that took place in Southern France, Mashable reported.

The social network presented the format as a mock-up and hasn’t released the new design yet. It will house the advertiser’s content on its site directly, according to the new design, instead of click-through link or instant articles that were rolled out earlier this year.

Through this feature, users will get the access to full-screen photos and videos, and in some cases, can also tilt their phones for a 360-degree view of the product. All this can be done while the user remains on his/her newsfeed, the Mashable report said.

Stock moves up

The new design will turn Facebook into a self-contained microcosm, where user traffic is never lost to outside sites. Nearly three quarters of the site’s revenue comes from smartphone and tablet ads. The social network’s stocks moved 2.7 per cent up after the vision for new design was released.
