Snowden shows support for Apple’s stance on privacy

Apple has been taking thorough steps to ensure stance on privacy

NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden is urging the public to support Apple’s newly emphasised commitment to privacy rather than a business model driven by personal data collection. Snowden spoke over video conference during the Challenge.rs conference.

In his conversation with TechCrunch writer Josh Constine, Snowden said, “CEO Tim Cook recently took a stand on privacy and Apple’s business, saying “some of the most prominent and successful companies have built their businesses by lulling their customers into complacency about their personal information. They’re gobbling up everything they can learn about you and trying to monetize it. We think that’s wrong. And it’s not the kind of company that Apple wants to be”.”

Apple has taken thorough steps to ensure their stance on consumers’ privacy through press releases and public appearances by Cook, which have been positively received. This is in contrast to other tech giants like Google and Facebook, that are aggressively collecting private personal data, and the widespread security breaches of big brands.
