YouTube engineering chief loses battle with cancer

Venkat Panchapakesan, Google VP and chief of engineering for YouTube, died on Monday this past week after losing a battle with cancer. Panchapakesan worked at Yahoo India to develop an R&D centre for the company for close to 10 years, after which he moved to Google. He was 49 years old, and is survived by his wife and two children.
