BITSoM’s second batch of MBA is 34 per cent women

BITS School of Management (BITSoM) commenced the academic session for the second batch of its two-year residential MBA programme. The incoming class comprises 34 per cent women, 66 per cent of engineers, and 40 per cent has more than two years of work experience. Students were selected through a rigorous process that evaluated academics, CAT/GMAT/GRE scores, extra-curricular achievements, and a personal interview.

“I am pleased with the quality of students that we have admitted in our second batch, demonstrating all-around excellence, not just in academics and test scores, but in their extra-curricular interests as well. Again, many of our students have chosen BITSoM over top national and international schools, which is remarkable for an institute in its second year. We are confident that we will help them realise their potential,” said Dr Ranjan Banerjee, Dean, BITSoM.

Diverse background

The students are well-rounded achievers with varied experiences — from being a reviewer of Cognitive Neuroscience Student Journal at Radboud University, a recipient of the prestigious Frankfurt School and HHL Young Leipzig Leader Scholarships, and a graduate with distinction in the Gold Level exam of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, to co-authoring a paper aimed at improving the properties of aluminium for internal combustion engines, published in the Springer Nature journal and applying for a patent for a project on a “Deep-Learning based Yoga Pose Assessment System”.

The academic session began with orientation week, the highlight of which was the Chancellor’s dinner, where students had the opportunity to interact with Kumar Mangalam Birla. The orientation included conversations with various industry leaders, a case-solving workshop with Anirvan Pant, Associate Professor, IIM Calcutta, and a talk on maximising life with Dr Pramath Sinha, Founder and Trustee, Ashoka University, and Founder and Chairman, Harappa Education.

BITSoM has a global faculty from top B-Schools such as Kellogg, Wharton, NYU Stern, MIT Sloan, Texas Austin, and Cornell. It has a collaboration with the London Business School whereby BITSoM students have the opportunity to undergo a tailored immersion programme at London Business School.
