Bloomberg B-schools ranking: ISB ranks 4th in Asia Pacific

Institutes were ranked on four indexes: compensation, networking, learning, and entrepreneurship

As per the Bloomberg Businessweek’s ranking of the Best Global Business Schools of 2019-20, Indian School of Business’ Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) programme has been ranked fourth in the Asia-Pacific region. Bloomberg Businessweek ranked 131 business schools around the world to find the best programmes to get an MBA. The list is based on the data compiled from more than 9,000 students, 14,920 alumni and 2,860 corporate recruiters, compensation, and job-placement data from each school. The 2019–20 best B-schools results were broken down into four regions: Europe, Asia-Pacific, Canada, and US.

In addition to the overall ranking, schools are separately ranked on four component indexes — compensation, networking, learning, and entrepreneurship — providing students more ways to evaluate what schools have to offer them.

Top spot in learning and networking parameter

Prof Rajendra Srivastava, Dean, ISB, said: “The Bloomberg rankings certainly bring us a lot of joy. We are ranked #4 and is the only B-School listed from India. Moreover, we are ranked #1 on the learning and networking parameter, and #2 on entrepreneurship and #5 in compensation in the Asia pacific region, which talks a lot about the school’s mettle and the strong alumni connect.”

Bloomberg Businessweek surveyed ISB’s PGP class of 2019, along with the alumni network of PGP Co2011, Co2012, and Co2013. For non-US based schools, such as ISB, salaries submitted in local currencies were converted to US dollars, using the average exchange rate for the year ending August 30, 2019. Salaries were not adjusted for purchasing power parity.

Bloomberg Businessweek rankings are based on the inputs provided by the graduating students, recent alumni, and companies that recruit MBAs. Their answers determine the weightings of each of the indexes. It also measures other factors such as the atmosphere on campus for women, and for people with disabilities

ISB has been ranked seventh globally in the Forbes Best Business Schools 2019 rankings for its PGP course, and 24th worldwide as per the Financial Times Global MBA Rankings 2019.
