BSE Institute partners with HDFC to launch training programme

BSE Institute has launched a training course aimed at bridging the skills-gap in the banking industry. The institute has partnered with HDFC Bank to co-develop the content of the training course -- Professional Banker Program (PBP).

Applicants will undergo a robust selection process and HDFC will make a conditional offer of employment to selected candidates at the start of the course, subject to successful completion of the program.

Extending to a little over two months, PBP will take graduates under the age of 25, and will train them for various retail branch banking roles such as teller, personal banker, welcome desk personal banker, etc. The course is reasonably priced. The programme will be a full-time course delivered by senior bankers from the industry and will have the right mix of theory, experiential learning and case studies.

As part of the selection process, prospective candidates will have to compete through a written test. Qualifying candidates will be interviewed by the BSE Institute in the first round, followed by a final interview with HDFC Bank.

The programme, to be launched in April 2015 in Mumbai, has a roadmap to expand footprint across several locations in the near future. Placements offered by HDFC will typically be in towns across in the region/state where the training is held.

“Finding fresh graduates with the right career and motivational fit is key to any talent acquisition strategy at entry level. Such partnerships will equip graduates with skill sets aligned with their career aspirations," said Philip Mathew, Chief People Officer, HDFC Bank in a press statement. "We are confident that through this course we will build a fine talent pipeline in sync with the requirements of the bank.”
