Case from ICFAI Business School Wins Best Case Award at NACRA 2015

There were 104 cases short-listed for presentation at the event held in Orlando, Florida

The case, “A Lapse of Judgment”, written by professor Debapratim Purkayastha and Syeda Maseeha Qumer of ICFAI Business School, Hyderabad, and Dr Vijaya Narapareddy of Daniels College of Business (University of Denver, USA), won the Best Case Award at the North American Case Research Association (NACRA) Annual Meeting. The 2015 edition of the NACRA Annual Meeting was held in Orlando, Florida, from October 8 to October 10, 2015.

NACRA is a premier case research association comprising of approximately 500 researchers, case writers and teachers, mostly in the business disciplines. There were 104 cases short-listed for presentation at the event, with submissions from across the globe from institutions like HEC-Montreal, ISC-Paris, ESADE, Sheffield Hallam University, University of Missouri, Kansas, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Saint Mary’s College, Washington and Lee University. From India, the participants were from IIM-Kozikode, XLRI, Jamshedpur, MDI-Gurgaon, TAPMI and IMT-Nagpur, among others.

Speaking about the award-winning case, Dr Marlene Reed, Entrepreneur in Residence, Baylor University, and a former President of NACRA, said, “This is a very well researched case... I was delighted when the committee agreed with me that it was deserving of an award.”

The Case Research Center at IBS Hyderabad has developed more than 5,000 case studies, and is known for regularly winning awards and prizes at global case writing events.
