Deloitte launches its flagship B-School competition 'Maverick’

Over 15,500 students have registered to participate this year

Consulting firm Deloitte has recently launched its signature B-school competition - Maverick. The industry-academia connect programme has doubled its reach to more than 100 B-Schools this season.

The programme connects with students across campuses using a business simulation format. This year, over 15,500 students have registered to participate in Maverick.

“With more schools than ever, Season IV of Maverick gives us an exclusive opportunity to access talent beyond our regular hiring,” said S.V. Nathan, Senior Director and Chief Talent Officer, Deloitte India in a statement.

“Millennials have a spark that can be disruptive and engaging, and programmes like the Maverick help Deloitte to continue to benefit from their fresh thinking.”

Held in a multi-stage elimination format, the programme challenges the participants to experience the life of a consultant and demonstrate new-age competencies that define success in the corporate world.

This year, the regional qualifiers for the Maverick programme are being held across North, South, East and West of India i.e. Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad (August 24); Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai (August 27); Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (August 17); and Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies, Pune (August 20) respectively.

The top teams from each region will compete for the Maverick 2015 title at the grand finale in Deloitte’s Hyderabad office on September 4.

Apart from the main business solutions challenge, three additional competitions are held on the sidelines of Maverick.

The ‘War of Bands’ is held for music bands in the campuses to compete against each other, and win a chance to play at the regional rounds and at the grand finale.

‘Be the One’ encourages students to send in their personal story of successes/ achievements that helped shape them into the person they are. Students with the most compelling stories stand a chance to share their stories during the regional rounds and win prizes.

‘Roll the Reel’ is the third contest that provides students with the opportunity to leverage videos and new-age motion graphics. Winning entries will be played at the regional rounds and at the grand finale.
