Diversity in abundance: SIBM Bengaluru organises international cultural fest

Theme of the event was Rhythm of Nations

Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Bengaluru recently organised its annual international students cultural festival - Utopia - to provode a platform for international students in the city to meet, interact with and understand different cultures. The theme of the event was Rhythm of Nations.

Bangalore's Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian College (BCWCC) and Christ University emerged as the winners of the event with close to 400 students from colleges across the city attending the event. The students represented diasporas of over 15 nations including Nepal, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Rwanda, Nigeria, Mauritius, Nigeria, Tanzania, Bangladesh and Iran.

The team from BCWCC bagged the top prize in the Fashion Show while the Afghan contingent from Sambhram College came second. St. Francis De Sales College (SFS) bagged the third prize.

Prathap Chandran, creative manager, Myntra, the judge for the fashion show, said in a statement, "It was a good show with a lot of curated collections. There was good co-ordination with appropriate choreography by the teams and the energy levels maintained were high. It was a tough call to decide on the winners."

A team from Christ University took top honours in Homeward Bound - an event that allowed participants to showcase their talent in performing arts. Acharya College finished runners-up. The event was judged by noted Kathak danseuse Smitha Srinivasan and choreographer Tilak Prabhu.

Other informal events included All in One (Minute to win it!) and Stage Lit (Open Mic Event).
