‘Education and training are important for emerging workforce’

Jaipuria School of Business’ chairman spoke at an international forum on Changing Economic Scenario

Two factors are important for the emerging workforce to bring about business sustainability — education and training, said Shishir Jaipuria, Chairman, Board of Governors, Jaipuria School of Business (JSB).

On November 11, JSB organised an international conference on ‘Changing Economic Scenario: Strategies for Business Sustainability’. The conference began with a video address by Union Minister of Commerce Suresh Prabhu.

Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog, who was the chief of guest of the event, said there is a need to train the workforce to adapt themselves according to the changing economic scenario.

Around 300 intellectuals from various fields, such as banking, corporate, and civil society, took part in the event. Alexander Shchegolev, Deputy Trade Commissioner, Russian Embassy; TK Arun, Editor, Opinion, Times of India; Anand Pillai, MD, Leadership Matters; and KG Suresh, director-general IIM-C, who was also the guest of honour, were some of those who attended the conference.

Two technical sessions were conducted in which panellists discussed possible business sustainability measures. Aquil Busrai, Director, Aquil Busrai Consulting, moderated the first session and the second one was moderated by Vijay Sinha, senior Vice-President, JSW Energy Ltd.

A book was also released on the conference theme with edited articles and research papers. As many as 24 selected research papers were presented at the conference by various institutes from India, Dubai, the US and Mauritius. The best presenters were felicitated by KG Suresh, SK Mahapatra (director, JSB), and Vinod Malhotra, advisor, Jaipuria group of educational institutions.
