Entrepreneurship is a mindset, says IIM Shillong Director

DP Goyal was addressing a gathering at the institute’s annual entrepreneurship summit

E-Cell, the entrepreneurship cell of IIM Shillong, conducted Emerge, the annual flagship entrepreneurship summit of IIM Shillong. Celebrating the entrepreneurial spirit of the managers of tomorrow, the eighth edition was conducted on February 22 and 23.

Prof DP Goyal, Director, IIM Shillong, addressed the gathering and said: “As a B-school, we realise that it is not enough to only develop managers, but entrepreneurs and job providers who are ready to innovate, to grasp the opportunities and remain ready to face the challenges. Entrepreneurship is a mindset.”

The inauguration was followed by panel discussions with entrepreneurs from across the country centering around the themes of “Hospitality landscape in the North-East” and “The young entrepreneurs” which gave the participants a perspective on how to counter impediments, failures and challenges. Speakers included Prashant Rao Aroor, CEO, IintelliStay Hotels; Larsing Ming Sawyan, MD, The Centre Point Group; Soumya Dutta, Founder Hatke Stays; Girish Ahirwar, Entrepreneur; Amit Gautam, CEO and founder, Pasito Industries; Gursakhi Lugani, CEO, Nakhrewali; Vandeep Singh, CFO and Strategic Advisor, GBFK Fashion, and Ridhinil Roy, CEO, NE8X.

A workshop by Gunajit Brahma, a national award-winning entrepreneur, on ‘Essentials for Business Success,” who talked about the vital elements that are indispensable in one’s quiver to carve a successful business career was also conducted. The event was also participated by students of colleges from Shillong.

On the second day of the event, the coveted “Best Manager” competition was organised.
