FT MBA ranking: IIM-B in top 50 for open programmes

FT Executive Education ranks performance of the B-school’s customised courses as notable

As per the Financial Times Executive Education ranking for 2019, Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B) ranked 57th in the customised, 49th in the open programme and 43rd in the combined ranking categories. This is the 21st edition of the Financial Times ranking of the world’s leading providers of customised and open-enrolment executive education programmes.

As compared to the last year, the performance of open programmes has been quite notable as it moved up by 15 spots. This has taken the school into the top 50 slot. The improved ranking is a reflection of the range, quality and learning outcomes of the programmes.

The FT 2019 executive education global rankings are based on the participants’ and clients’ satisfaction, the diversity of participants and faculty, and the schools’ international exposure.

Ranking parameters

“The FT ranking for 2019 is a reaffirmation of the leadership position of IIM-B’s executive education programmes. We hope to continuously improve the customer experiences and learning outcomes,” said Prof R Srinivasan, Chairperson, executive education, IIM-B.

The participating schools are ranked on various parameters by corporations that commission the executive education courses (for custom programmes), by participants of these courses (for open programmes), and on the data reported by the business schools.

Reaching the top

Madan Mohan Raj, chief programme officer, executive education, said, “IIM-B has enjoyed great success in recent years in the internationalisation of its programme offerings. We have a rich portfolio of open programmes offered in partnership with international schools and we are also seeing good traction for IIM-B’s programmes from the international business schools and corporates. The FT ranking will give greater visibility globally.”

Executive education at IIM-B has been part of the institute since its inception, and offers a wide range of programmes on leadership, innovation, digitalisation, strategy, finance and top management programmes. IIM-B offers over 200 programmes that attract 6,000 plus participants annually.
