Godrej scouts for passionate young leaders

Season 5 of Godrej LOUD began at B-schools across India on Tuesday

Godrej Industries Limited and Associate Companies (GILAC) began its 5 th edition of Godrej LOUD (Live Out Ur Dream) 2016, a campus hiring engagement programme that helps talented b-school students fulfil their personal dreams.

Winners of this initiative get a sponsorship of ₹1.5 lakh and an offer to get into Godrej’s internship programme.

The programme was launched on Tuesday at NITIE, Mumbai, by Sunil Kataria, business head of India and SAARC, Godrej Consumer Products Limited and Parmesh Shahani, head of Godrej India Culture Lab.

Institutes they cover

Over the next five weeks, the Godrej LOUD team will visit SP Jain, Mumbai; TISS, Mumbai; SIBM, Pune; SCMHRD, Pune; IIFT, Delhi; IIM, Kozikhode; FMS, Delhi; XIM, Bhubaneswar; MDI, Gurgaon; IIM, Ahmedabad; and IRMA, Anand, to find passionate first-year students.

Nisaba Godrej, executive director of Godrej Consumer Products Limited, said, “LOUD is our way of finding passionate young leaders. We believe that if someone is really passionate about something, even if it has nothing to do with what we do, it is likely they will bring that drive with them.”

Sumit Mitra, head of group human resources and corporate services, said, “In the past four years, we have heard 5,055 dreams and helped 28 winners live theirs. This year, we intend to take that number to newer heights and bring more students into our fold of dreamers, doers and achievers. We are inspired by the enthusiasm and participation we receive every year.”

Last year, the initiative saw over 2,300 applications, a 40 per cent increase from 2014. Fourteen finalists were then shortlisted and shared their dreams at the company’s headquarters in Mumbai, and six winners got the opportunity to live out their dreams.

Some of the winners from the past years have received funds to design daily living aids for people with impaired limb functions, create a music video in the Himalayas and even take a trip to visit the major sites of World War II in Auschwitz, Normandy and Berlin.
