ICFAI Law School, a constituent of the ICFAI University, Hyderabad, organised a four-day ‘Celebrations of Law Festival – Lex Knot’ from March 30 onward at ICFAI University Campus, Dontanpally.

During the festival, the Bar Council of India Trust conducted the 33rd All-India Inter-University National Moot Court Competition. The chief guest, Justice BS Chauhan, Chairperson, Law Commission of India, in his inaugural address, began with an anecdote on the definition of law and justice. He emphasised that the terms “law” and “justice” do not find place in the several statutes of our country. Only Article 13 of the Constitution provides an inclusive definition of law. Thereby, he suggested, budding lawyers must be more focused on the facts of a case and thorough with substantial and procedural laws.

He also spoke about several contemporary judgments that have played a major role in shaping our legal system. He highlighted that delay in court proceedings has caused miscarriage of justice where few cases have been pending for over a 100 years.

ICFAI Law School Dean AV Narsimha Rao stated that more than 400 students of law from top National Law Schools, different universities and other reputed law schools spread across 24 states in India participated in Lex Knot. To enrich the experience of this festival, competitions such as Moot Court, Client Counselling, Negotiation, Asian Parliament Debate, Judgment Writing, Poster Making Presentation, Essay Writing, Street Play and Photography were conducted.
