ICFAI, Telangana Govt team up for rural and remote education

SoFTNET will disseminate educational resources designed by ICFAI in rural hinterlands

ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education (IFHE) Hyderabad and Society for Telangana State Network (SoFTNET), Department of ITE & C, Government of Telangana, jointly entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance the scope of remote learning.

SoFTNET has the mandate to provide quality teaching, coaching, and guidance, to aspirants through audio-visual, wire and wireless technology, and satellite communications. ICFAI has expertise in the domains of business management, law, engineering and architecture. The collaboration allows subject matter experts from ICFAI to design and deliver 20-minute video modules on topics of general interest as well as specialised areas.

SoFTNET will use these modules and make them available to the general public through their elaborate network, particularly the rural hinterlands of the state where the shortage of quality educational resources is particularly large. The collaboration also allows the ICFAI faculty to be resource persons for training and skill development programmes conducted by SoFTNET, according to a release.

Commenting on the collaboration with SoFTNET, J Mahender Reddy, Vice-Chancellor, ICFAI said: “ICFAI has highly experienced and acclaimed faculty in many contemporary domains cutting across management, law and engineering. We hope the vast amount of knowledge is transmitted to the deserving in the remotest corners of the state through the SoFTNET channels.”
