ICFAI wins in three categories of Case Centre awards

Bags top prize in three areas of UK-based Case Centre’s Award and competition

ICFAI Business School (IBS), Hyderabad, won three awards in the 29th year of UK-based The Case Centre’s Award and Competition. These annual awards are hailed as the case method community’s Oscars.

The first place, in the human resource management/organisational behaviour category,  was bagged by Debapratim Purkayastha, Dean and Head, Case Research Centre, IBS, Hyderabad, who authored a case on "Employee training and development at Ritz-Carlton: Fostering an exceptional customer service culture".

Winning the top place in the knowledge, information and communication systems management category were Debapratim Purkayastha and Adapa Srinivasa Rao for the case, ‘Amazon’s big data strategy’.

‘Turbulence on the tarmac’, a case written by Debapratim Purkayastha and Sid Ghosh, won the first place in the outstanding compact case category.

The Outstanding Compact Case was a new competition for 2019. The cartoon case, from ICFAI Business School, is a first win for this innovative pedagogical   format.

Purkayastha, said: “We are proud to be the inaugural winner of the Outstanding Compact Case competition with a comic book case with Sid Ghosh. Our success demonstrates ICFAI’s ability to consistently come out with cases on innovative topics and in innovative formats that educators worldwide love to take into their classrooms.”

Richard McCracken, Director, The Case Centre, said: “IBS is the most successful school, in our Awards and Competitions 2019, winning three out of 16 categories. This outstanding achievement highlights the school’s dedication to producing high-quality, topical, innovative classroom materials that are used in business schools worldwide. We are proud that our annual case ‘Oscars’ shine a light on these impactful achievements.”

Harvard Business School is the second most successful institution, winning two awards, while Stanford, INSEAD, IMD, Cornell, Oxford, Kellogg, Columbia, ESCP Europe won one award each.
