Indian Institute of Management, Amritsar is organising its fifth edition of the Annual HR Conclave, Yukti. The conclave will be held on August 8 and 9 and as a part of it, there are two panel discussions, focusing the domain of HR. In these unprecedented times, when working from home is the norm, these discussions will help students gain perspective and cope with future challenges. Preparing students for changing markets
The theme for the first-panel discussion is 'Navigating the future workplace: Competencies needed for the jobs of the future.' This panel aims to understand the skill sets that companies will require in the post-Covid-19 world. If a change is required, how can that be mastered? What should a B-school student do? When things get back to normal, will intermediate methodologies exist to link the old competencies with new ones? Understanding whether competencies could be generalized will also be of paramount importance, depending upon the business sector in question. Which sectors will have the highest change and which ones will remain the least affected? This panel will tackle such pertinent questions that are of huge relevance to students.
The second panel discussion will be on 'Employee wellbeing: A necessity in challenging times.' The theme is focused on the need to assess the emotional impact of the pandemic along with the obvious physical ramifications. Working from home for long hours has its own unique set of challenges. Beyond a point, it becomes unsettling and overwhelming to say the least. In these times, it becomes all the more important for organisations to make employees feel connected, supported, and keep them well informed, as the rigour of remote work continues.
Shaping discourse
Panelists in the first discussion are Kishore Subramanian, Head of Talent Acquisition, Petrochemicals Group of AM International ; Dr Ankita Singh, VP and Global Head HR, CignexDatamatics; Naga Siddharth, Head, People & Culture, Suprdaily. On the second day, the panelists are Bhavya Misra, HR Director, PepsiCo; Arun Kumar Krishnamoorty, Director, Head HR, Barclays; Deepa Verma, Chief HRM, Tata Steel. It starts at 5 pm and goes on till 8 pm on both days.
As the job market is changing and has brought in more possibilities and opportunities in some areas, while shrinking in others, the discussion would help the leaders of tomorrow to prepare for the contingencies in the business world and be market-ready.
