IIM Amritsar to start first PGP batch

IIM Amritsar's temporary campus

IIM-K has put together its experience to begin programme on Aug 6

IIM Amritsar is all set to commence the first Post-Graduate Programme (PGP) in Management from August 6 in Amritsar. The institute got the final nod from the ministry of HRD to start the activities from this year, after the site for the permanent campus was finalised by the site selection committee in later part of June.

Mentor institute, IIM Kozhikode has put together all its experience and human resources to organise essential requirements to begin the programme within a month’s time.

War-footing

A few buildings at the Punjab Institute of Technology at the Government Polytechnic Compound are refurbished on a war-footing basis to meet pedagogical requirements of the programme.

“Despite the fact that we are working on an extremely tight deadline, it would be our attempt to provide the best learning experience to the students of the PGP at IIM Amritsar,” said Prof Anjan Kumar Swain, Professor at IIM Kozhikode and Nodal Professor for IIM Amritsar. “As the programme will run from the temporary facilities at Punjab Institute of Technology till the new campus infrastructure is established on 60 acres of land near Manawala, there would be some challenges that students and faculty have to face. But it is understood when a programme runs from a temporary facility in the initial years.”

IIM Kozhikode faculty will be teaching at the new IIM currently.
