The inauguration ceremonies of two Virtual Learning Programme for Executives (VLPE) namely Post Graduate Certificate Programme in Management in collaboration with VC Now; and Post Graduate Certificate Programme in Investment Banking in collaboration with Times TSW; were conducted virtually by IIM Indore.
Professor Himanshu Rai, Director, IIM Indore inaugurated these programmes along with Professor Rajhans Mishra, Coordinator, VLPE and Darayus Mehta, Founder Director, VC Now. Prof Rai welcomed the batch and said that, “This pandemic is a crisis, but it also brings something positive with it. Covid to me is creating opportunities by visioning, introspecting and discovering. We need to have a vision and a sense of purpose to what we’re doing and why we are doing a particular thing. IIM Indore’s mission is to be contextually relevant, with world-class academic standards and creating leaders and managers who are socially conscious.”
Relevant to the job market
Prof Rajhans Mishra also mentioned that the courses have been designed keeping in mind the requirement of the industry and the market, and are more relevant during these times — when the world is going digital. He emphasised that the participants learn by engaging with what’s being taught in class, but also outside the class by interacting with the batch mates — who have an average work experience of around nine years.
Darayus Mehta, Founding Director, VC Now, thanked IIM Indore team for launching the PGCPM. This programme will help the working executives upgrade their skills and enhance their knowledge, since the batch has a total work experience of over 200 years, he added.
Short-term online classes
Both these programmes are of one-year duration and classes are conducted online in the weekends. The aim of PGCPM is to equip participants with latest management practices whereas the PGCPIB focuses on imparting advanced knowledge on management aspects of investment banking. IIM Indore has already completed five batches of PGCPM and two batches of PGCPIB under VLPE. The Institute conducts various online programmes for working executives under VLPE.
As a piece of advice, Director Himashu Rai said, “A life which is full of action with no pauses to reflect is a cacophonous life. You need to take a pause, realise your relation with the universe and reflect. Leave your surroundings cleaner than you found them and leave a person happier than they were before you met them. You’re contributing your bit to the universe.”
