IIM Indore receives NIRF rank # 7 among B-schools

2019-20 has been an eventful year of learning, hard work and innovation, says Director Himanshu Rai

The Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) announced the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings on June 11. Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM Indore) received the 7th rank this year. The results were declared by Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Union Cabinet Minister for MHRD on his Twitter account.

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad has been ranked first. IIM-Bangalore, IIM-Calcutta were placed at second and third position respectively, while fourth and fifth place were taken by IIM-Lucknow and IIT-Kharagpur (Vinod Gupta School of Management).

The parameters

In its fifth year of rankings, the NIRF 2020 has been released in nine categories, going by the 2019 lists — Overall, Universities, Engineering, Colleges, Management, Pharmacy, Medical, Architecture, and Law. The parameters on which the NIRF 2020 is based are — Teaching, Learning and Resources, Research and Professional Practices, Graduation Outcomes, Outreach and Inclusivity, and Perception. According to officials more than 3,800 institutes had submitted their data for NIRF ranking this year.

“The year 2019-20 has been an eventful and a year of various achievements for IIM Indore with the Triple Accreditation of AMBA, AACSB and EQUIS — thereby achieving the ‘Triple Crown’. We’re committed to improving and doing better in the field of academics and research. This year has been a journey of learning, hard work and innovation. The credit for this goes to the entire institution which has worked tirelessly to make this happen. We intend to do even better in the years to come,” said Himanshu Rai, Director, IIM Indore.

The Institute has also collaborated with more than 40 foreign institutions, signing multiple MoUs for students and faculty exchange in the last academic year. We have been contributing significantly to the research and faculty research papers are getting published in top journals around the globe, said Rai.

Working in society

The Institute aims to contribute to the society, city, State and nation as a whole and, therefore, has been collaborating with local administration and government for various initiative — through research, management and training sessions and even volunteering during the times of Covid-19 pandemic. The Institute has also prepared an action plan in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh Government, under the One District One Product Scheme, to uplift four districts in Gorakhpur division, help market growth and encourage women’s empowerment.

The Institute looks forward to contributing significantly to the welfare of the nation and achieving more in terms of research and academics in the coming years.
