IIM Raipur organises leadership programme for VCs and directors

Objective was to align Indian technical education with global trends for knowledge development

IIM Raipur and National University of Singapore (NUS) recently joined hands to organise a Leadership Development Programme for Vice Chancellors, Directors and Principals of India based Technical Institutes under Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP-II).

The programme was organised in two phases from September 27 to October 2. The first phase was organised at IIM Raipur on September 27, and the second phase was conducted at NUS in Singapore from September 28 to October 2. The programme was coordinated by B.S. Sahay, Director of IIM Raipur and P.R.S. Sarma, TEQIP-II Coordinator, IIM Raipur and Tan Eng Chye, Provost of NUS. A total of 30 participants including Vice-Chancellors, Directors/Principals, TEQIP Coordinators and two Directors from MHRD attended the programme.

The objective of the programme was to align Indian technical education with global trends for knowledge development to bring transformation to achieve academic excellence, research and enterprise.

The first day of the leadership development programme was focused on ‘Academic Leadership’ and setting vision and mission for the participating institutes in achieving excellence.

Elaborating the strategic vision of the technical institutions, Sahay stressed the need for achieving academic excellence through developing visionary leadership, strategic planning, process management, students, faculty and all Stakeholders.

The second phase of the programme at NUS focused on orientation of vice-chancellors and directors who have a leadership role to play in the Institute. With a peer-learning philosophy, the achievements and experiences of NUS were detailed to all the participants.
