IIM Ranchi team wins Kolkata semi-finals

The jury comprising KS Rao, Vishwadeep Kuila,Radhika Merwin, and BLoC editor Vinay Kamath, with winners of the Kolkata leg: Kiran Rajan, Surbhi Gupta and Mukul Sharma from IIM Ranchi.

A team from XLRI Jamshedpur is the runner-up

The trio of Kiran Rajan, Surbhi Gupta and Mukul Sharma from IIM Ranchi won the Kolkata leg of the BLoC Boardroom Challenge semi-finals 2020. Four teams competed in the Kolkata semi-finals. The team comprising Pradan Jain, Noel Saji Paul and Eshan Varma of XLRI Jamshedpur was the runner up.

A team from IIM Shillong, with team members Aritra Datta and Arko Datta, came in third while another team from IIM Ranchi with Pawan Agarwal, Aaryav Anand and Ritik Agarwal was fourth placed. The students had to present a branding strategy for an FMCG brand and also discuss how this brand could shore up its falling market shares in emerging categories.

The teams were scored on their understanding and analysis of the case, the case solution, their presentations and also on team work. The winning team from IIM Ranchi will now meet the winners of the semi-finals from other eight cities in the finals. The jury for the Kolkata semi-finals comprised KS Rao, Senior Vice President & Head, Investor Education and Distribution Development, Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC Ltd, Vishwadeep Kuila of Brand Vectors and Radhika Merwin, Associate Editor, BusinessLine.
