IIM Trichy best outgoing students voice their aspirations

Award-winners Arun A and Nandhini N talk about the key takeaways from their two-year MBA

Arun A is the winner of the Kotak Securities gold medal for Best All-round Performance in the PGPM 2017-2019 batch at IIM Trichy. Arun received the medal from MM Murugappan, Executive Chairman, Murugappa group, at the institute’s seventh convocation held at its campus on March 30. While Arun was the best male outgoing student, Nandhini N bagged the Leela Chandrasekhara Menon award for Outstanding Lady Student of the Year.

Arun, who is switching careers from the construction industry where he worked before joining IIM Trichy, will be joining Atomberg Tech, a Mumbai-based company which makes energy-efficient fans. “We’ve learnt a lot here; I’m going into sales and marketing and looking forward to using the core concepts we learnt and applying them at work,” says Arun.

Arun says the learnings were many in his two years at IIM Trichy, from classroom to informal sessions with faculty as well as from his peers as the institute had students from all over the country in his batch. Asked about key takeaways, he says: “To name a few, there were many takeaways from the marketing courses, like B2B marketing and strategic marketing, and we could apply a lot of the concepts learnt through simulation. Data mining for business forecasting and decision analysis for managers were practical courses that really enhanced our learning.”

Nandhini N has been placed in Deloitte, and is keen on strategy and operations, in which she majored in at IIM Trichy. “IIM Trichy has offered a great learning path for me. Classroom learning to learnings from peers was a wonderful experience. The journey was awesome and a life-changing experience,” she says. Watch a video with her below.
