IIM Trichy celebrates its Fifth Foundation Day

IIMT’s MAD team also honoured

IIM Tiruchirappalli (IIMT) celebrated its fifth foundation day on January 4 with a grand function. The event was graced by dignitaries from the corporate world. D Shivakumar, Chairman and CEO, PEPSICo India Holdings Private Ltd., was the chief guest, and Prashant Joshi, Managing Director & Head - PBC, Deutsche Bank was the guest of honour for the function.

The event was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by guests, Dr. Prafulla Agnihotri, Director, IIMT and Prof V. Gopal, Dean Academics, IIMT. Dr. Agnihotri delivered the welcome address in which he touched upon the progress of the institution in the past five years, recounting a number of achievements, including IIMT being the new IIM with most number of permanent faculty and being the only IIM to be recognised by the CFA Institute University, among others.

Prashant Joshi, in his address, spoke about the growing importance of speed of response and how it should not overshadow the depth of response, which helps a business in the long run. He highlighted the importance of three values: intellectual honesty, integrity, and gratitude, and said that they would guide an individual to success in their personal and professional lives.

D Shivakumar spoke on the various facets of careers, and advised students to choose careers based on their passion, to aim for long term goals and be prepared to put in hours and hours of hard work to achieve the goal.

With social responsibility being a core value inculcated at the institute, as part of its of flagship PGP programme, students are required to engage in a “Make a difference”(MAD) Project which aids different strata of the society. One of the teams of this initiative, which included final year students Aritra Chatterjee, Vivek Agarwal, Jayesh Bhandarkar, Vishal Virola, Vishwanathan E and Renu Chowdary, was awarded a certificate of appreciation.

The institute also felicitated Ravi Kumar, Centre-in-charge, IIM Trichy-Chennai Centre for his admirable efforts in rescuing Prof Mohan Kuruvilla, who was stranded during the recent Chennai floods.

As part of the celebrations, a cultural programme was coordinated by the Rasika Ranjana Sabha which saw a performance by Kashyapmahesh, NC Madhav, Salem K Srinivasan, Trichy S Krishnaswamy, Vishnupuram K Raghu, Srirangam, S Harikishore and R Padmanaban.
