IIM Trichy signs technical MoU with TN Govt

Initiative with TN eGov body will enhance data-driven decision-making across government departments

The Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli (IIM-T) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency (TNeGA) on February 19 in the presence of TN Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and TN Minister of Information Technology M Manikandan at the Secretariat in Chennai.

Prof Bhimaraya Metri, Director, IIM Tiruchirappalli, said: “This is a historic moment for us. The Centre for Applied Research in Data Science (CARDS) — a joint initiative of IIM-T and TNeGA, will boost smart decision-making for the welfare of multiple stakeholders in the Tamil Nadu Government and will enhance data-driven decision-making across State government departments”.

Commenting on the MoU with IIM-T, TNeGA CEO Santosh K Misra, IAS, said: “The Government of Tamil Nadu is the first State government to collaborate with IIM-T to harness the potential of data analytics across government departments”.

The collaboration seeks to promote research in the domain of government data analytics, facilitating the training of senior and middle level executives on data analytics and emerging technologies such as internet of things (IoT), blockchain, artificial intelligence, and others. Prof Sujeet K. Sharma, of MIS Area at IIM-T, said, “Through this collaboration, we will support the TN government departments on various challenges related to data analytics and emerging technologies”.
