IIM Trichy to continue its executive MBA online

Has similar plans for its regular MBA courses too; online exams being considered

Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli will offer its executive MBA programme for working executives in the online mode for the upcoming semesters, and similar plans are also underway for the regular MBA courses too, says a press release from the B-school.

Plans for online exams that can be taken by the students from their home under remote proctoring and a plan to prepare e-books for the students are also being considered. The e-learning centres of the institute will be fully functional in the next two weeks tentatively to start the executive programme (PGPBM). The institute is also preparing to take up online classes if required for the regular PGPM and PGPM-HR incoming batches. The PGPM-HR programme will be launched by the Institute for the first time, this academic year, says the release.

Knowledge sharing

In addition to this, IIM Trichy Alumni Chapter is conducting knowledge sharing sessions through webinars where the alumni of IIM Trichy and industry experts connect with the current students of the institute. The first knowledge sharing session on ‘Product benchmarking’ was held on May 9 by an industry expert, Mark Limage, MD, Munro Associates (UK) Ltd, who explained in detail the benchmarking practices followed in different industries.

A second webinar on the topic ‘The Growth Story of Amrutanjan’ by Sambhu Sivalenka, Chairman and MD, Amrutanjan Health Care Ltd., is planned for May 23.

CSR activity

As a part of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, IIM Trichy recently organised a camp to create awareness about the Covid-19 virus in Suriyur village, which has been adopted by the institute. The camp focussed on creating awareness about what the Covid-19 virus is through demonstrations on social distancing, wearing masks and their proper disposal, correct method of washing with soap and how effective use of sanitiser can reduce the risk of infecting others and in protecting themselves.

Masks were distributed to the villagers and sanitisers were handed over to the panchayat cleaning staff for their safety and well-being. The camp was presided over by Shanmugasundaram, President of Suriyur panchayat.

Elixir, the social responsibility club of IIM Trichy, has been involved in various donation activities. It has distributed funds to Renaissance Malarchi Special School, Trichy and Karunai Kangal, Old Age Home, Trichy.

Apart from this, Elixir tied up with Donatekart, WWF India, India Co-win Action Network, and CSR clubs of other IIMs, collectively known as Robin Hood Army for volunteering and relief related activities, says the release.
