IIMB students get creative hosting culturals virtually

Contemporary themed fest, ‘E-mbrace and E-volve,’ witnessed dance, drama, music and fashion online

IIM Bangalore hosted Aarambh’20, a cultural event, entirely virtually. The first cultural event of the academic year was jointly organised by the students of the two-year postgraduate programme and the batch of MBA in Business Analytics.

The commencing batch of PGP students at IIMB is given an opportunity to organise the first cultural event of the academic year, Aarambh. This helps them connect better with their peers, seniors and the B-school, and Covid-19 did not dampen the students’ spirits. They took it to their stride and put up a show for their audience, comprising faculty members, students and administrative staff. Prof Rishikesha T Krishnan, Director, IIMB, said, “Outstanding talent and very professionally put together show, using the digital medium.”

Contempory theme

The contempory themeed ‘E-mbrace and E-volve,’ witnessed music, dance, drama, art and fashion — online. In accordance with IIM Bangalore’s culture of inclusion and diversity, welcome messages were expressed by students from various states in their native languages. This was followed by a dance sequence, ‘Zoom Barabar Zoom.’

Most performances were collaborative, pre-recorded acts to ensure smooth delivery over the internet. Students presented an e-street play, witty and humorous, keeping the audiences glued to their screens. Keeping up with the trend of online challenges, artists from the batch showcased their creativity by performing the ‘paintbrush challenge.’

Simulating the offline event brilliantly, a live-musical performance was also organised during the show. Showing support for the commencing class, students from the PGP 2019-21 batch presented an energetic dance performance.
