IIMK ranked 15 in Asia-Pacific in QS global EMBA rankings

Also ranked 101 globally in the world university global executive MBA rankings

In its debut attempt, IIMK’s EMBA programme has been ranked 15-plus in the Asia Pacific region and 101-plus globally in the fourth edition of the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Global Executive MBA (EMBA) Ranking 2020 administered by the QS World University Ranking Team, says a press release from the B-school.

Globally, IIMK now stands with HEC Lausanne (Switzerland) and Kent State University (USA) in the 101-plus category. Among the Institutes in Asia Pacific, IIMK stands at par with ISB Hyderabad and University of Texas at Arlington (China Centre) in 15-plus category.

In this edition of the ranking, QS consisted of nine indicators grouped under five headings namely career outcomes, diversity, employer reputation, executive profile and thought leadership. Based on these five groups of indicators QS had evaluated 161 global executive MBA programmes which were qualified to participate from 35 countries. At rank 17 in Asia Pacific region the career outcomes is the strongest category for IIM Kozhikode followed by employer reputation and thought leadership indicators which emerged as the major contributors to the IIMK global ranking.

Holistic approach

Speaking on the achievement, Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIM Kozhikode, added, “This global feat is a testimony to the Institute’s resolute pursuit of a holistic and intense approach to learning. IIMK initiated the EMBA programme way back in 2008 and we take immense pride in this achievement as it underlines our commitment towards inculcating diversity, enhancing employer reputation, evoking thought leadership and offering distinct career outcomes to our students. We hope to break new ground globally with our other acclaimed academic programmes in the coming years to put India on the global education map.”

IIM Kozhikode had also leapfrogged one spot to be among the top five IIMs in NIRF India Rankings 2020: Management, released by the Ministry of Human Resource Department recently.

QS world university rankings

The QS World University Rankings is an annual publication of university rankings which comprises the global overall and subject rankings (which name the world’s top universities for the study of 48 different subjects and five composite faculty areas), alongside their independent regional tables (such as Asia, Latin America, Emerging Europe and Central Asia and the Arab Region). The QS World University Rankings is the most-widely read university rankings in the world.

EMBA programme

The EMBA (MBA for working executives) programme of IIMK is accredited by the AMBA since 2011 and the objectives of the program are to impart management education to working executives seeking skills and strategies to take their organisations to the next level.

The programme, with 750 instruction hours, provides the participants with skills for leadership in the knowledge economy through an innovative curriculum. The duration of the programme is two academic years split into seven quarters. The participants of this programme form an interesting mix of working professionals from varied backgrounds like IT, human resources, marketing, banking, financial services and manufacturing.
