IIM Ranchi welcomes new MBA cohort virtually

Along with creative workshops, alumni fraternity shared their experiences about life at IIMR

Indian Institute of Management, Ranchi welcomed the new batch virtually, following protocols of the new normal. Prof Shailendra Singh, Director, IIM Ranchi, along with other faculty members, inaugurated the ceremony by lighting the lamp. Prof Pradip Kumar Bala, PGP Chairperson, IIM Ranchi, and Prof Piyali Ghosh, PGP-HRM Chairperson, IIM Ranchi, addressed the students with an empowering speech. Describing the journey of the institute and its glorious history, they boosted the confidence of students.

The first day of the induction programme featured a creative workshop organised by dance and movement therapy practitioner, Dhara Mehra, Founder, The Opposable Thumb, and Froggy Feet, the dance group of IIM Ranchi. The workshop included beginners and moderate level training on creative body movements and storytelling through facial expressions.

The day two began with an inspiring speech by the Chief Guest, Anup Majumdar, CEO, Trariti Consulting Group. T Speaking from his industrial experience, he stressed on the importance of networking, and all that one should experience and get from their MBA journey. The alumni fraternity, interacting with the new batch, portrayed a picture of life at IIMR drawing from their experiences. The creative workshop continued, where the students were introduced to clowning activities based on principles of hard work, honesty, and humility. Basic and quick stress-relieving exercises were taught too.

Students also engaged in the management challenges organised post the formal events, giving them a flavour of all the struggles they might experience in the journey ahead. The senior batch conducted a series of activities throughout the week, giving the incoming batch a platform to test and practise their networking, communication and organising skills, while working in teams.
