Delhi-based International Management Institute recently inducted its new batch of 360 students on June 19. This 2018 batch of IMI is the largest ever to be inducted at the Delhi campus.

The Chief Managing Director of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Atul Sobti, who is an IMI Delhi alumnus too, was also present during the ceremony to accept the Distinguished Alumnus Award.

“Today you have come here with both enthusiasm and anxiety about the choice you have made. The onus to perform is on you. This is an opportunity and what you make of it is up to you,” said Sobti while speaking to the students.

Believing in one’s self, hardwork, learnings from your failure, vision of what you want to achieve, learning from your peers, never stop learning and balance in your personal and professional life were the 7 mantras that Sobti asked the students to follow.

Bakul Dholakia, Director General, IMI Delhi congratulated Sobti on being conferred with such a prestigious honour. He noted, “Sobti has carried forward the tenets of discipline, diligence and confidence of his student days into his professional life. This has been the key to his success and I believe the students will have gained significantly from interacting with him right at the beginning of their academic life at IMI- New Delhi.”

Induction

The 5-day induction ceremony began with familiarisation sessions with the various subjects included in the two-year courses. With 240 students in Post Graduate Diploma in Management course and 60 each in PGDM-HR and PGDM-B&FS, the students were divided into 4 groups.

Detailed case-studies sessions, interactive ice-breaking activities and an overall relaxed atmosphere made students feel at ease in their surroundings during the induction. The administration also ensured that students are informed regarding the stringent anti-ragging policies of the institute and are aware of the various facilities available to them.
