Rituparna Basu receives AIMS-IRMA Outstanding Young Woman Management Teacher Award for 2016

Dr Rituparna Basu, Assistant Professor of Marketing, Retail and Entrepreneurship at IMI Kolkata, received the AIMS-IRMA Outstanding Young Woman Management Teacher Award for the year 2016 from the Association of Indian Management Scholars International at the 14 th AIMS International Conference on Management held in MICA, Ahmedabad, on December 26.

Dr Rituparna holds a PhD in Management from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and has been with IMI Kolkata for the last four years. The award was conferred in recognition of her contribution to management teaching in the country. The jury said her practice-led research across a wide range of subjects — such as retail, sports marketing, children as consumers, or entrepreneurship — has made an impact across the academic fraternity.

Moreover, her ability to build a curriculum around her research publications and cases has been noteworthy for management education at large. Her self-designed simulations and innovative learning tools are valued as contemporary and engaging, enabling the teacher to offer the class a more relevant learning experience.

Dr Basu said that while it is a moment of joy to be recognised for her contribution to the field of management education, this award also brings with it greater responsibilities for her to set new benchmarks and make learning more meaningful and exciting for her students.
