IMI Kolkata hosts TEDx

Experts from diverse backgrounds shared ideas at the virtual event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, IMI Kolkata hosted TEDxIMI Kolkata Live, an independently organised event aimed at bringing together enriching minds to share their valuable knowledge in their respective domains. The board included Nitisha Sethia Founder and Editor, Outdoor Sports Company, Adventure Play; Dibyajyoti Sarma, mentor, New Poets for Publishing; Ashwika Kapur, wildlife and natural history filmmaker; Dr Kunal Sakar, one of the leading cardiac surgeons in India; and Indian cricketer and politician Manoj Kumar Tiwary.

With a day full of talks, novel experiences and profound interactions, Ashwika Kapur led the foundation of the programme by sharing her thoughts on 'Conservation in the Anthropocene: A Case of Optimism'. Her speech was followed by that of Sarma, who spoke about the difficulties faced by modern poets in the publishing business but still continue to look for a ray of hope beyond, a case for optimism. Further, Manoj Kumar Tiwary addressed the room on the hardships he has faced in his career yet how it never made him lose faith in success. Followed by Nitisha Sethia who shared her experiences on giving up her dream job at McKinsey and making a shift in her career as a sports and travel enthusiast. The last speaker, Dr Kunal Sakar gave his insights on the pivotal role of optimism during such challenging times of the Covid-19 crisis.
