IMI Kolkata participates in EAMSA conference

Director and faculty members addressed issues of interest to researchers from Europe and Asia

Prof Arindam Banik, Director, IMI Kolkata, and other faculty members from IMI-K participated in the 36th Euro-Asia Management Studies Association’s (EAMSA) annual conference at Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences, Dornbirn, Austria, from October 2 to 5. The papers addressed issues of interest to researchers from Europe and Asia and had implications for international businesses.

In the session on “How Resilient are Asian MNEs?”Prof Arindam Banik presented a paper titled, “Ownership pattern and governance-performance relation: Evidence from top Indian companies”. Prof Mohua Banerjee’s paper “Role of channel members in the dairy value chain — Bridging gaps with technology interventions” was part of the session “Innovation-driven growth and entrepreneurship”. And during the session “Changing Relationships between Business and Environmental Forces”, Dr Rituparna Basu presented on “Retail preferences for premium product purchase: Disruptions and empirical insights from emerging markets”.

Plans and tie-ups

Prof Banik shared his editorial expertise with researchers in the session titled, “Work in the East Asian Business domain: How to manoeuvre the peer-review process”, along with Prof Sierk Horn, International Management, University of Vorarlberg, and Prof Philippe Regnier, School of International Development and Global Studies, University of Ottawa.

Prof Tanja Eiselen, Rector, FH Vorarlberg, University of Applied Sciences, expressed interest to establish academic relations with IMI Kolkata and initiated talks for signing a student exchange programme agreement. IMI Kolkata has proposed its Kolkata campus as a venue for the EASMA conference, to explore contemporary challenges to theory and practice of businesses in Europe and Asia and their interplay.
