IMT Ghaziabad hosts HR conclave

Experts give students tips on surviving the industry and how to do the job better

IMT Ghaziabad and its PGDM Executive students recently hosted the ‘HR Conclave 2015-16’ which focused on the emerging challenges in HR and modern practices, and the latest technologies in HR used to deal with these challenges.

Acting as an interface between industry and academics, the conclave witnessed the presence of HR personalities from across a cross-section of industries and provided a one-to-one interactive platform for faculty members and students to discuss the scope, challenges and career opportunities in the HR domain.

The conclave covered various topics including HR Technology, Digital disruption in HR, Emerging Mobile Technologies in Recruiting, HR Analytics – Latest Trends, Organizational Hiring trends, Customized HR, Women Leadership Initiatives, Industry Practices in Interviewing Techniques and Employee Satisfaction – Initiatives and Challenges in Today’s Digital World, to name a few. Experts shared valuable insights on the topics and engaged one on one with the students.

Industry Experts Talk

The keynote address at the inaugural session was delivered by Sheetal Sandhu, Associate Vice President - HR, EvalueServe.

Ranjan Tayal, Head, Ramco talked about the Digital disruption and importance of Analytics in HR. He said that the importance of analytics in HR as a great tool actively used in hiring processes and workforce fitment assessment. He also stated that the new-age HR policies like BYOD (Bring your Own Device) and ROWE (Result Oriented Work Environment) is setting up new trends in workspace. He warned that if organisations did not take care of their employees, someone else would.

Gaurav Soni, Manager - HR, Birlasoft shared his views on the Personal Effectiveness in HR and said, “The profound efficiency, consistent effectiveness, time management, and prioritization can help the new gen workforce to perform better in a challenging and high demanding work environment.”

Soni along with Harsh Raj Jain, Manager Recruitment, Ebix shared information on the 4D model - Do it now, Dump, Delay and Delegate. Both shared the techniques for effective feedback and leadership and ended the session speaking about the importance of positivity in life and at the workplace.

Rahul Krishna from Espire Infolabs gave a different outlook on how hiring happens in real-time.

Vishal Singhwani, HR Business Partner, NIIT Technologies, ended the session with fun and energy by deliberating on the ideas of how a candidate can work to become the first choice of an employer, especially in making a difference when the employer asks the same question to all the candidates.
