ISB Dean to hold Novartis Chair in marketing strategy

Tenure ends year-end; to focus on research and training and work on business model innovation

Indian School of Business (ISB) Dean Rajendra Srivastava’s tenure will end on December 31, 2020. He announced that he would be transitioning to research and teaching as the Novartis Chair in Marketing Strategy and Innovation. He will continue with his work on business model innovation and organisational transformation, says a press release from the B-school.

Addressing the faculty and staff, the Dean said, “I will, of course, be available to the Executive Board and the school to assist during the transition period for the dean search process as well as on-boarding the new Dean.” During his tenure, ISB has achieved several important milestones which include:

* MBA & EMBA programme rankings: PGP & MBA rankings across Financial Times, Forbes, Businessweek and The Economist ; the integrated ranking number 16 worldwide in January 2020

* Accreditation: ISB is now one of the few schools in Asia with the “triple crown” accreditation by AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA

* New programmes: Enhanced the post graduate programme portfolio by introducing new programmes including the PGPpro for working professionals in four cities across the nation. Additionally, ISB pioneered the successful executive Fellow programme in management.

* Placements: ISB increased student job offers by over 50 per cent.

* Full-time faculty growth: Doubled faculty strength bringing stability to ISB’s global programme delivery capabilities.

Harish Manwani, Chairman of ISB Executive Board, commented, “Raj joined ISB after an impressive academic career spanning 35 years across some of the world’s most prestigious universities across the US and Asia. An able administrator, he is also a thought leader recognised as a Fellow of the American Marketing Association.” He added, “In his five years as the Dean of ISB he has built on the strong foundation laid down by his predecessors and has transformed the school in terms of global recognition and financial stability.”

Prof Rajendra Srivastava comes with an experience of over 40 years as an academic and administrator. He has held several tenured faculty and administrative positions during his career. Before joining the ISB, he was Provost and Deputy President of Academic Affairs at Singapore Management University. Prior to SMU he held distinguished research chairs and senior management positions at the University of Texas at Austin and Emory University in Atlanta. Professor Srivastava is an MBA and PhD (Business Administration) from the University of Pittsburgh, an MS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Rhode Island, and holds a BTech (Mechanical Engineering) degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
