Young professionals should carefully choose and join ‘good’ businesses, G V Prasad, Co-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd said in Hyderabad on Thursday. He was speaking as the Chief Guest at the NMIMS Deemed-to-be-University’s graduation day.
“We hear about businessmen running away and instances of crony capitalism. This is not business. Join a company which will do good for the society and will value you,” he said.
Narrating his experiences at Dr Reddy’s, he said he had joined the company at a time when many board members were quitting. His journey began when he aimed at making the company the best place to work, to attract talent and not be dependent on individuals. “All this helped me grow as a leader, along with the organisation,” he said.
Rajan Saxena, Vice Chancellor of NMIMS, said the 15-year-old university was going beyond management studies and starting a school of performing arts from this academic year.
The institute now has 13,500 students on its rolls in its main campus in Mumbai and in five other locations including Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Indore. A new campus is coming up in a 90-acre plot in Jadcherla near Hyderabad and will be ready by next year, Saxena added.
