KPIT throws open design and innovation challenge for engineering students

Contest in association with College of Engineering, Pune

IT consulting and engineering firm KPIT has announced the start of its national design and development innovation contest - Sparkle 2016, in association with College of Engineering, Pune.

With the aim of fostering a culture of innovation and critical thinking, the company invites engineering and science students across Indian colleges to come up with solutions on the theme, ‘Smart Solutions for Energy and Transportation’ and win prizes worth ₹21.5 lakh.

The contest does not give students a problem statement to solve, but allows them to choose the problem from within the scope of the theme and create their own solutions. The solutions should not only be innovative from a technology point of view but also be cleaner, safer, greener, and affordable for the end consumer.

“There is a huge opportunity for innovation as world seeks answers to achieve sustainability in the growing industrial and urbanised ecosystem," said Ravi Pandit, Co-founder, Chairman & Group CEO, KPIT in a statement. "Through this competition, we aim to inspire bright young minds to recognize and solve critical problems in this area with impactful and commercially viable solutions in energy and transportation.”

The last date of registration for the pre-qualification round is September 20. In the final round, shortlisted participants will present solutions through posters and working prototypes at an exhibition in Pune in the beginning of next year.

In the previous edition, the competition received more than 400 ideas ranging from unconventional power generation and hybrid solutions to intelligent transport systems and driver safety.
