Largest batch inducted into IIM-K Executive Programme

The 369-strong cohort boasts professionals from IT, construction, banking and entrepreneurship areas

The induction ceremony of the 12th batch of Executive Post-Graduate Programme (EPGP 12) of the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode took place on Monday. The year 2019 witnessed a spike of 64 per cent in admissions to this programme, with a diverse group of 369 professionals from industry forming part of this batch. They come from such varied sectors as IT, operations & services, construction and manufacturing, banking & insurance, and entrepreneurship.

The EPGP programme has been accredited by the AMBA (Association of MBAs) since 2011, and the programmes’s objective is to impart management education to working executives seeking skills and strategies to take their organisations to the next level. IIM-K has been continuously updating the programme curriculum to stay on par with global standards. With 750 instruction hours, the programme provides participants with the skills for leadership in the knowledge economy through an innovative curriculum. The duration is two academic years split into seven quarters and, on successful completion of the programme, participants are awarded a Master of Business Administration degree.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIM Kozhikode, informed the participants that IIM-K pioneered the Interactive Learning (IL) programme for working executives in the Asia-Pacific region, way back in 2001, with a year-long General Management Programme, which today, as the two-year Executive Post Graduate Programme, is the most rigorous and sought-after executive programme in management in the country. He added: “In a world which is growing exponentially the true leaders of the future will be the ones who think beyond linearity. By virtue of thinking and acting exponentially while also imbibing the values of social environmental learning they can navigate the new world.”

Prof. Anandakuttan B Unnithan, Dean (Academic Affairs & Development), Prof. C Raju, Dean (Extension Programmes) and Prof. Priya Nair Rajeev, EPGP Chairperson, also welcomed the industry professionals and expressed confidence that the value addition earned during the course of their training at IIM- will give them a distinct advantage in their career trajectory.
