LMSAI, NITI Aayog to host annual symposium on April 4

The symposium aims to discuss the endless possibilities for scientific advancements

The Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute (LMSAI), Harvard University, office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India and NITI Aayog, will jointly host the India annual symposium — ‘Science and Society’ on April 4.

The symposium aims to bring together academia, government and industry leaders to illustrate the endless possibilities for scientific advancements. The six sessions of the symposium range from ‘setting the context for science and society’ to ‘technological advancements in agriculture’.

This will be followed by sessions on ‘why study life sciences’, ‘catalyzing India’s digital health ecosystem’ and ‘methods and tools to enhance STEM education’.

Among dignitaries who are to share their insights on the role of science and innovation are Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog, Tarun Khanna, Director, LMSAI, Harvard University and Professor, Harvard Business School, K Vijay Raghavan, Principal Scientific Adviser, Government of India, VK Saraswat, Member, NITI Ayog and JNU Chancellor, Rajiv Kumar, Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog, Manoj Kumar, Co-founder and CEO, Foundation for Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship (Social Alpha), R Ramannan, Mission Director and Additional Secretary, Atal Innovation Mission, Venkatesh Murthy, Professor and Chair of Molecular and Cellular Biology, Harvard University.

Industry leader Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, CMD, Biocon will be among the corporate heads attending the day-long event.
