LS Speaker exhorts IFIM graduands to develop agri economy

Around 293 students received their PG diplomas at B-school’s 24th convocation

IFIM Business School, Bangalore, one of the top six B-schools in India to have been awarded the AACSB accreditation, celebrated its 24th Annual Convocation through an e-convocation ceremony. This year witnessed 293 students across PGDM two-uyar programme and PGDM Working Professionals programme in the presence of Chief Guest Om Birla, Speaker of the Lok Sabha, for the event.

During the convocation address, Birla said, “A suggestion I would like to offer the graduating students is to utilise the knowledge acquired through education for innovation, particularly in the agricultural space. The sector requires innovative minds to catalyse growth and provide solutions which would improve the current situation With the current economy in distress, the student community needs to reorient its focus towards the agricultural sector, which is currently the only foundational pillar holding the economy together.”

Key events

Dr Atish Chattopadhyay, Director, IFIM Business School, while highlighting the key events of this academic year, said, “IFIM institutions strive to create T-shaped professionals who are aligned towards the needs of Industry 4.0. The various programmes of the institute, including the super-specialisation programmes that are offered, are a clear testimony to how we do this. This batch of graduating students have showcased their best abilities to bring out -of-the-box ideas to solving real-life issues, in collaboration with industry. Students have also worked on 15 RFP projects across 10 companies in areas such as Ffntech and martech. Moreover, while Covid-19 has created fear in the minds of graduating professionals all over the world, our students have been well mentored by both industry leaders and our faculty towards dealing with the current demands.”

 

The convocation was also attended by Sanjay Padode, Chairman, Center for Developmental Education (CDE), along with faculty members from IFIM institutions and VijayBhoomi University, the graduating students and proud parents of the graduating batch, which included both regular and executive PGDM students.

Intellectual contributions

Some of the highlights of the annual report of the graduating batch included 58 intellectual contributions which were made by the faculty during the year 2019. Twenty papers from the Research Incubation Programme of PGDM 18-20 are currently under review, one of which has been published in a Scopus Indexed Journal. AIM-Parasuraman Centre also launched the pilot index in two sectors in India: Banking and Ecommerce, for which XLRI is the part institution partner.
