Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) and University of British Columbia (UBC) signed a partnership agreement to strengthen academic and research collaborations .With a focus on broad areas of public and global health, researchers from the two institutions will work together on issues of global relevance outlined in the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Quoting Lt Gen (retd) MD Venkatesh, Vice-Chancellor of MAHE, a statement said that this relationship with UBC will be mutually beneficial involving students, academics and researchers from both institutions. The Manipal-based MAHE, which has been designated as an ‘Institution of Eminence’ by the Government, prioritises research topics based on societal impacts and strives to be a leader in addressing literacy, poverty and health, the statement said.
With campuses in Vancouver and British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley, UBC has launched its new global engagement strategy — in service. After signing the ‘Statement of Cooperation’, Santa J Ono, President and Vice-Chancellor of UBC, said ‘In Service’ prioritises collaborations that address broad and profound challenges related to the economy, society and the biosphere.
