Mangaluru’s Sahyadri College completes placements

Over 60 companies visited the campus and the highest package is ₹24.5 lakhs per annum

The Mangaluru-based Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management started the placement season with 474 students of the 2021 batch getting placed in different companies. Rashmi Bhandary, Dean - Placements, said that despite challenges faced amid the Covid pandemic, placements drive is continuously taking place both online and offline. Like previous years, companies are regularly visiting campuses to recruit talented students, she said.

Over 60 companies visited the campus and 474 students got placed with the highest package of ₹24.5 lakhs per annum. Samrudh Acharya of Information Science branch of the college has been selected by the company Cohesity with a package of ₹24.5 lakhs per annum. He has also been offered internship with stipend of ₹60,000 per month from February.

Hiring surge

The average package this year is ₹4.5 lakh per annum as against around ₹3.5 lakh per annum last year. Some of the service-based companies have increased the pay packages this year, she said. The number of companies recruiting from the campus has also increased, as many of them are opting for online recruitment process now. The selection criteria have become more stringent now with the companies focusing more on the quality of students, she said.

The placements season for 2021 batch started in August 2020 with highest numbers picked by companies such as Capgemini, Cognizant, TCS and Infosys. Sahyadri College was able to attract some of the best product and service companies because of the industry connect programme and training provided to the students. With its huge infrastructure, the college provides placement training and industrial exposure for engineering students from first till final year helping them crack the best product and service companies, she added.
