MDI Gurgaon emerge winners of Relead 2018

ReNew Power’s case study contest saw participation from 135 teams across India

The inaugural edition of Relead 2018, an all-India case study contest organised by ReNew Power, came to an exciting conclusion at the company’s headquarters in Gurugram on November 23, with the team from Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon emerging national winners. The winners received a cash prize of ₹1.5 lakh and earned pre-placement interviews with ReNew Power, along with an opportunity to visit one of ReNew’s project sites.

The contest revolved around a ‘live’ business problem that challenged budding managers from the country’s premier business schools to analyse the renewable energy sector and suggest a diversification strategy for ReNew Power. The preliminary round saw an overwhelming response with over 135 teams from leading schools sending in their entries. After an initial round of screening, a total of seven teams (from IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Lucknow, IIM Calcutta, IIM Raipur, IIM Rohtak and MDI Gurgaon) were shortlisted for the national finals.

The teams presented their recommendations before an eminent jury comprising of Rahul Tongia, who leads the Energy & Sustainability Group at Brookings India, and leading entrepreneur Sairee Chahal, founder & CEO of SHEROES. After an intense, day-long session of presentations, the jury selected the MDI Gurgaon team as champions. The winning team suggested various innovative diversification options for ReNew to consider, backed by in depth research and deep domain knowledge.
