MDI Gurgaon welcomes new batch of research scholars

MDI Pro-Chancellor said academic research can contribute to growth and development of businesses

MDI Gurgaon conducted a virtual inaugural and induction programme for the new batch of Fellowship Programme in Management. The chief speaker of the inaugural ceremony, Prof Prem Vrat, Pro-Chancellor, and Chief Mentor, The NorthCap University, Gurugram, motivated research scholars by explaining the the crucial role of research and development in the business environment.

Prof Vrat spoke about the role of academic research in the growth and development of any business as well as in building strong academia-industry relations. He said, “As a research scholar, you should work on understanding critical aspects of the research topic, discovering new facts about the existing systems, and add new knowledge or dimension to the subject, all while maintaining academic ethics.”

Research-active student community

The virtual induction ceremony was attended by participants from the new batch and MDI faculty members. It ended with a vote of thanks by Prof Vishal Narain, Chairperson – Fellowship Programme. He endorsed the observations made by Dr Prem Vrat and said that it would serve as a good orientation for the scholars’ research journey.

“The research process is exciting. It entails several epistemological and ontological choices along issues of ethics and data management,” he added, acknowledging the different cumulative influences in shaping the overall research.

At MDI, the academic community is research-active and carries out research work of high standards that can contribute to the national goal of innovation, socio-economic development, and environmental sustainability.
