Meenakshi Lekhi urges IIM-A students to work for the government

Centre wants to focus on stimulating start-up atmosphere, says Lekhi

"Are we looking up at ourselves in the way the world today is looking at us? Are we looking up to the job destiny has given us?" asked Meenakshi Lekhi, MP, Govt. of India and Supreme Court lawyer to the IIM Ahmedabad students, who had thronged the IIM Ahmedabad auditorium to listen to her.

The PGPX batch of IIM Ahmedabad recently held its chapter of the Speaker Series, during which Lekhi shared her "Perspectives on Indian economic development and policy making".

Lekhi quipped that she felt one with the audience as who other than politicians can appreciate the knowledge of management as they always need to work under resource constraints.

The Centre wants to focus on stimulating the start-up atmosphere in India, whether organised or unorganised, and create policies to support them, said Lekhi.

Also, to take care of the diverse challenges faced by the nation, the Centre wants to create a quasi-federal structure where the policies are centralised but the implementation local.

Lekhi urged the PGPX students to work for the government and sought support from the IIM fraternity to generate implementable ideas for the economic development of the nation.
