The incoming batch of PGP 2020-22 of IIM Ahmedabad is rich in diversity in terms of gender, educational background, work experience, and extracurricular achievements. The batch includes students who have achieved remarkable accolades in different areas such as film making, television media, sports, book publishing, and fashion.
Here is a short introduction to some of the students of the new batch:
Adya Niraj, Lawyer, Miss India finalist
Before pursuing her MBA, Adya completed her graduation in law from the National University of Study and Research in Law, Ranchi. She aims to work as a consultant in the future. Apart from being an institute rank holder during her under graduation, she was a top-21 finalist of Femina Miss India 2016, which aired on Colors TV and Zoom. She was also the runner up in the Femina Miss India, Kolkata, in 2016.
Ipshita Rhea Peters, Award-winning author
Having graduated in English literature from St Xavier's College, Ipshita discovered her passion for digital marketing and content writing while working at Nykaa and ZebPay. She chose to do an MBA and go through formal management training to further her career and gain all the necessary skills. Ipshita was the winner of the writing contest national iGenius Young Author's Hunt 2013 and her winning story was featured in an anthology published by Rupa Publications, available for purchase across India.
Palak Mishra, Social worker
A political science graduate from Banaras Hindu University, Palak was a core member of an NGO working towards child education and health. She helped initiate the concept of smart class in two villages and worked towards establishing a library for the village kids. She is passionate about writing and has contributed many articles to newspapers.
Shefali Chhaya, Television anchor
With a degree in Tourism Administration from Amity University, Noida, Shefali has two years of work experience in the tourism and media industry. Later she switched fields and moved to Doordarshan Sports where she was a television anchor for various shows with TRP of more than 80+ lakhs and worked in the social media team as well.
Aayush Redij, Advertising graduate
Aayush has been working since he was 16. A mass media student and a licensed scuba diver, he loves many sports including football, tennis, baseball, handball, and so on. At IIMA, he aspires to work in the branding industry.
Tanya Gupta, Fashion technology graduate
After her bachelor's in fashion technology from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Delhi, she worked with Must Garments Corp - Sidney Apparels as an assistant IE manager in Oman and Jordan as the only girl in the entire industrial engineering department. She believes that a master’s degree in management would open up opportunities to lead an organisation some day.
Sandeep Rajguru, Media studies graduate
Sandeep completed his master’s in audio-visual production from Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication and worked as a producer at various production houses in the last four years. He has always wanted to eventually run a business and feels that his skill sets as a producer have helped him learn a ton about how the creative side of the media industry functions. Apart from that, he is also a state-level baseball player and has won several district-level debate competitions.
Tanishq Diddee, Chemical engineer
A chemical engineer from NITK Suratkhal with a work experience of three years in the energy sector, Tanishq aims to work with organisations with a similar focus. He is also a national-level swimmer, who has won two medals in the under 16 age group and under 19 age group at the national level and led the division team in the Maharashtra State Waterpolo Championship. He also recently completed a few half marathons and came in the top 50 in an international marathon. With his post-graduation from IIM Ahmedabad, his goal is to transform the energy sector to create a net-zero carbon emission world to achieve the Paris Accord goal.
Anushka Tamta, Economics graduate
During her undergraduate days at Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi, Anushka was actively involved in dramatics and performed various street plays to tell stories and highlight social issues. Before coming to IIM Ahmedabad, she worked as a financial analyst for nearly two years in TresVista.
