MICA commences new academic session

A total of 191 students have joined the institute for 2015-17 session

Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad, on Monday, announced the commencement of their new academic session 2015-17 for Post Graduate Diploma in Management-Communications programme (PGDM-C). In addition, they also announced batches for Fellow Programme in Management — Communications (FPM) and Post Graduate Certificate Programme in Crafting Creative Communication (CCC). A total of 191 students joined the institute.

Varied backgrounds

The new batch witnessed an increase of 20 per cent in the intake of non-engineering students and 5 per cent in female students as compared to last year’s programme.

Commenting on this occasion Dr Nagesh Rao, President and Director, said, “We have not changed any selection criteria but have consciously reached out to non-engineering universities and institutes in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities, to bring in more diversity. Of course, that was followed by the merit of each student. We approached several universities and colleges, including Delhi University, LSR, NIFT and pitched for the institute. Diversity in a batch is very important as students from diverse fields get to share ideas, thoughts and perception in the two years at MICA.”

What it entails

The curriculum of the PGDM-C involves exposure to contemporary information, skills and knowledge in the Strategic Marketing and Communication domains.

The FPM is an AICTE approved doctoral programme in the communication discipline while CCC is a one year programme with a specialisation in Crafting Copywriting or Art Direction, depending on the module chosen by the student. The FPM programme is aimed at middle-level communication professionals and scholars, while the main objective of CCC is to develop students into high calibre professionals for creative careers in Marketing Communication.

MICA also scheduled special orientation programme for all its new students in PGP, CCC and FPM wherein the students were familiarized with the campus environment and facilities and taught basic courses like “Workshop on Appreciating Differences”, “Managerial Communication” and “Introduction to Incubator Programme.”
