Safeducate launches initiative to train women truck drivers

Participants should be well-trained in driving, possess a valid licence and speak the local language

Safeducate, a skilling and consulting firm, has announced the launch of Safepreneurs, an initiative to promote women entrepreneurs. This initiative is sourced from the company’s ‘Green Dost’ initiative, launched in 2018 to train and facilitate truck drivers.

The company, which specialises in supply chain management and logistics, has identified five women drivers with entrepreneurial aspirations, and aims to facilitate their entrepreneurial journey by providing them the requisite training and enabling them with ownership of the vehicle after training.

The minimum eligibility criteria for this programme requires participants to be well-trained in driving, possess a valid licence and speak the local language.

Under this initiative, Safeducate will give these five women a truck or carry vehicle against a minimal security deposit and teach them to drive it, along with latest applications. They will also receive business support and commissions after they achieve their target. After five years, the truck will be transferred to the women, who can opt to continue the business on their own terms. Safeducate will also provide a new truck to the women after completion of five years of association with the company.

Divya Jain, Founder and CEO, Safeducate, said: “It is our constant endeavour to help the Indian workforce upskill to its full potential. With Safepreneurs, we are proud to push forward the ‘Girl Power’ narrative and give these women entrepreneurs a great platform to start off with. We will support them throughout the programme with whatever they need to take their business forward and help them gain the required skills. Gaining ownership of the vehicle at the end of the programme will help the women entrepreneurs to sustain their business.”
