More than 192 companies visited the campus of Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management in Mangaluru with 645-plus offers for placements. Rashmi Bhandary, Dean (Placements) of the college, said that the highest pay package offered was ₹40 lakh per annum (LPA). The salaries offered by the companies ranged from ₹3.75 lakh per annum to ₹40 lakh per annum. The college had international offers ranging between ₹14 lakh per annum and ₹25 lakh per annum from companies based out of Japan and Singapore, she said. The average salary offered in the placement was ₹4 lakh per annum.
Most of the companies provided internship opportunities with stipends ranging from ₹15,000 to ₹60,000 per month. “This was a welcome change as it ensured students learn and earn while they study, and minimal delay in joining after graduation,” she said.
Online placements
Stating that the placement season for 2021 batch started in August with some of the best product and service companies visiting the campus, Bhandary said the highest students were picked by Capgemini (88 selects), Infosys (82 selects), Cognizant (75 selects), and TCS (62 selects).
Highlighting the efforts taken by Sahyadri College for placements during the pandemic period, she said the college provided precise training and infrastructure to cater the needs. Despite the absence of students within the campus premises, extensive efforts were made to connect the graduating students to the prospective recruiters.
As most of the placements were done through online mode, she said the companies shared the links with the college to be sent to students. Considering the telecom connectivity in some rural areas, the college made efforts to provide the required infrastructure to the students in the college itself if they need it. The online mode of placements also helped in bringing down the travel costs to the companies concerned, she said.
Additional training
Stating that Sahyadri College facilitates a strong academic and placement training to students from first year to final year helping them crack the best product and service companies, she said the college focuses on in-depth aptitude training right from the second year, covering elements such as gaming, psychometry, pseudocode, quantitative aptitude, reasoning and verbal ability to make the students company-ready.
The aptitude training culminates in the seventh semester with the company-specific training. The company-specific training is in line with the latest company pattern, thus ensuring a greater clearance rate by the students. The training is imparted to the students ensuring that every student leaves the portal of the campus with the desired job offer in hand, she added.
