SPJIMR completes Autumn internship placements

FMCG sector accounted for 33 per cent of the offers

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) has successfully completed placements for the two-year full-time PGDM programme class of 2022. The placements process, which was entirely online, saw enthusiastic participation from corporates and a jump in the stipends on offers compared to the last two years.

The SPJIMR autumn internship process witnessed participation from 52 recruiters, who cumulatively rolled out over 260 offers for 238 PGDM students across industries such as BFSI, e-commerce, FMCG, pharmaceuticals, and consulting.

Hike in compensation offered

The season brought 27 new recruiters on the SPJIMR campus and saw the average and median stipend move up despite challenging market conditions.

The key highlight of the season was the hike in terms of compensation offered and diversity of roles. Companies adopted creative means to screen candidates online, such as gamified experiences in one of their selection rounds. Simulations such as group discussions and interview panels were replicated virtually with seamless ease.

“We are delighted to report this performance in times that continue to be challenging. The results reinforce SPJIMR’s standing, the strength of our corporate relationships and the performance of our students,” said Abbasali Gabula, Associate Director (External Relations), SPJIMR.

Dr Sajeev Abraham George, PGDM Programme Chair, said, “The enhanced autumns placements outcome in these difficult times is greatly encouraging. We are confident that our students will be able to apply their learnings to create value for the companies through these internship projects. We shall continue to focus on our curriculum and pedagogy to achieve superior learning outcomes for our students.”

Stipend information

FMCG continued to be the most dominant sector in terms of the number of hires with 33 per cent of the participants placed in this sector.

The median compensation for offers with stipends for the two-month internship clocked in at ₹2,80,000, seeing a growth of 16.67 per cent compared to 2019, a non-Covid year. The average stipend soared above ₹2,61,000, clocking a growth of nearly 30 per cent compared to year 2020 and 16.07 per cent compared to year 2019. More than half of the batch received offers of ₹2,60,000 and above and more than 95 per cent of the batch had offers above ₹2,00,000.

The autumn placements process enables SPJIMR students to take up an internship after they have completed the specialisation courses and social internships.
